Quillen's Isle Logo

This is my logo design for an art dealer named Heather Quillen. She owns a shop in Berlin, MD, which she will showcase her huge collection of Thomas Kinkade paintings and sell some of them to her costumers. She asked me to help create a logo that will not only represent Kinkade, but also a part of Maryland's Eastern Shore (that where my town, Salisbury, resides in) as well.

Since Kinkade is mostly known for his use of illuminating colors and settings, I chose a sunrise as a background as it shows the sky and sea. In the foreground, I place an Old English, cobblestoned lighthouse with a rocky shore as they reflect the colorful light of the sunrise. The lighthouse is important symbol because it not only symbolizes Kinkade because he uses lighthouses as part of his paintings, but it also symbolizes Maryland as well since we have bays and live close to the Atlantic Ocean. To help create the right colors, I looked up to Kinkade's "The Guiding Light" for inspiration as well as lots of references of lighthouses, sunrises, etc.

This logo was first done with finished pencils and then I digitally colored it with Photoshop CS3.
